Popularity of the GameBooks provide an interesting way to see how the popularity of the game has waxed and waned over the years. Mark Driver and Dean Kezan have created a graph showing the number of books published in each decade.
You can see that backgammon was quite popular in the mid 1800s. There was another
surge in popularity in the 1930s. And, of course, there was a huge surge in
popularity in the 1970s. Judging by the number of books currently being published,
the game of backgammon is still going strong!
