From Backgammon, the Cruelest Game, by Barclay Cooke and Jon Bradshaw

Black to play 6-1.

Bring one man from white’s 12 point to black’s bar point and one man from black’s 8 point to black’s bar point.

This is a strong play, creating a three-point block, but it accomplishes no immediate objective other than to block sixes. However, there are no real alternatives, though some experts when seeking involvement against weaker players have been known to move one man from white’s 12 point to their bar point and another man from their 6 point to their 5 point, thereby leaving two directly assaultable blots. It is a droll but insupportable play and is not to be recommended.
