| White to play 6-6. |
Make both bar points. This play takes full advantage of the twenty-four points that this powerful throw permits you to move, cramps your opponent’s back men (since making your own bar point gives you a three-point block), and gets your back men to a strategic spot. The only weakness of the position is that you have advanced very fast, and those two men on your opponent’s bar point must be moved some time or other, which may force you to leave a blot when you don’t want to. But it is an excellent roll, and can give you a great advantage in a “running game.”
