Position 66, page 146
From The Backgammon Book, by Oswald Jacoby and John R. Crawford

White to play 6-1.

It would be silly to move one man out of the black home board, and suicidal to split and move one man to the black two point. The first procedure would make it possible for black to point on your blot with any roll that did not include an ace or a 6; the second procedure would leave him two blots to point on.

Other positions aren’t as extreme as this one, but the general rule should be to hold two men on that one point as long as your opponent has men on two or more points in his board.
