Taking photos of positions
|
If a player objects to me taking pictures of positions, what's the ruling?
He always objects to me writing down the positions. He says "Just play the
game". The first picture I took was a cube in the second game so it wasn't
as if I was abusing this 'priveledge', it was at this time, the first photo
op, that he spoke up.

Director's discretion. There is no specific rule allowing or barring the
recording of positions. The consensus has been that inobtrusive recording
of positions is allowed. However, prohibiting flash cameras and standing on
chairs is sensible. It certainly also makes sense to ask your opponent's
permission to take photos. Personally, the one time I had an opponent
object to recording positions, I complied with his request. There is no
complelling 'need' to record your positions if your opponent objects.
