From Backgammon, the Cruelest Game, by Barclay Cooke and Jon Bradshaw

Black to play 2-1.

Black appears to have several options, but again there is only one logical move. Black could hit the blot on white’s 4 point, but should not do so, since his object is to breaks white’s anchor. Almost any number will cause white to do so, whereas if black hits, white will have to wait for 5’s in order to reenter — which will be to his advantage.

Here the logical play is not to hit, forcing white to run. Once that happens, black is in an excellent position to capture all of white’s three remaining men. When this is accomplished, he may double and white should drop. Black’s best play is to move the man on white’s bar to his 10 point.
