The correct move is to make your 5 point. It is much too early to hit Black’s blot on his 8 point and cover your 5 point by moving a man from your bar. This play would leave blots on your bar, 8, and on Black’s 3 point, any one of which, if hit, could prove disastrous for you. You must build a better board and then hope to hit a blot. The odds are very much in your favor that Black will be forced to leave another blot, perhaps several, before the conclusion of this game.
