I have shown this position in order to illustrate what I meant in Position 11 by “building a better board.” Now the correct play is to hit Black’s blot on his 8 point and make your 5 point. Black will not be able to escape unless he rolls 3 and 6. There are several combinations he could roll that would cause him to have additional blots, such as 1 and 3, 1 and 4, 1 and 5, 2 and 4, 2 and 5, 3 and 4, 3 and 5, and double 3s.
