Once again you must give yourself the most possible chances to bear your remaining three men off in one roll. By moving as you did, you include double 3s with double 6s, 5s, and 4s as numbers that can win for you (assuming of course, that Black has not borne off his three men before it’s your turn to roll). Try some other play of the ace and you will see that none will permit you to bear off your remaining three men with double 3s. It is these seemingly innocuous moves that win or lose many games. Don’t worry, you’ll soon recognize all of them. Backgammon really is beautiful, isn’t it!
