Make your own five and three points. Double 3 is another roll that is hard to play badly. Our recommended play is extremely strong: it takes you a long way toward blocking your opponent’s back men.

However, making your own bar point (by moving two men from black twelve point) is almost as good; and there are all sorts of strong combination plays, such as moving your two back men from black one point to black four point and making your own five point with two men from your eight point.
