White has to bear off one man from the six point and may either bear a man from the three point or move a man from the five to the two point.

It is usually correct to move an odd man from a high point, but this time the correct play is to bear the man from the three point. In addition to giving you an infinitesimal extra chance to win a gammon, the play is far safer.
