Backgammon Variants
Misere (Backgammon to Lose)
This version of backgammon is played just like the regular game, except the object of the game is to lose!
Setup:
The setup and direction of movement are the same as the regular game.
Object:
The object of the game is to be the last player to bear off all your checkers. The last player off wins.
All other rules of the game are the same as in backgammon. (You must move if possible; you must use both numbers of the dice if possible; you must hit if you have no other legal move, etc.)
You can play with a doubling cube if you want. Gammons and backgammons don't count.
Games can be very long, though eventually forces will disengage and the game comes to a conclusion.
Differences from Backgammon |
- The object is to be the last player to bear off all your checkers.
- There are no gammons or backgammons.
